To the Editor:Re “Stop Saying Everything Is Under Control” (editorial, March 18):Indeed, it isn’t. In my 78 years on earth I have never, ever seen or lived through anything like this. Today, the greatest and most powerful nation still is not testing anywhere near the number of Americans who desperately need to be screened for the coronavirus. The only way this national crisis will be under control is when testing is available nationally and we know how many people are infected. We grew up in the 1950s, hid under desks during air raid drills, suffered through the Vietnam War.
